Chasing Light & Sound: A Portrait Session with Ian in Columbia
Some shoots just come together effortlessly, and this was one of them. I recently had the opportunity to take some creative portraits for Ian’s new music project in Columbia, South Carolina, and everything—literally everything—fell into place. The weather was perfect, with just enough golden-hour warmth to add depth and character without being overbearing. It was the kind of day that makes you excited to pick up a camera and start creating.
Ian came prepared. His wardrobe was completely on point, aligning seamlessly with the mood we were aiming to capture—moody yet inviting, modern with a touch of nostalgia. Every detail, from fabric textures to color choices, added layers to the visual story we were telling. It’s always a good sign when an artist understands their own aesthetic, and Ian definitely did.
The shoot took us through a mix of locations, playing with light, shadows, and reflections to bring out different facets of his persona. We experimented with movement, candid moments, and a few unconventional angles to make sure the portraits didn’t just look good but felt like something deeper—something that truly represented Ian and his music.
What I love most about sessions like this is the collaboration. It wasn’t just about taking photos; it was about capturing a feeling, a vibe, an energy that translates visually. When we wrapped, we knew we had something special.
Can’t wait to share some of these shots soon. Stay tuned—Ian’s music and visuals are going to be something worth watching.
